According to the calendar and the stars, tonight is the night winter ends and spring begins. As such, it is time for the annual excursion of the mountain kami. A short round trip, from the depths of the monastery to the village at the foot of the mountain, then back to its resting place.
As every year, the deity is to be ritually carried in a sealed palanquin (a float) by a mix of monks and villagers. And, as every year, villagers climb in great numbers to the monastery to give a hand to the monks, and monks return the favor by descending into the village to help the common people with their issues.
This year however, between the unusual activity in the monastery these last days and the snowstorm that struck just last night, preparations are running behind. Help is needed if everything is to be ready for the afternoon .
The rules
Similar to the previous days
The whole event is treated as a single Narrative Scene.
As the start of the event, set your strife and fatigue to zero, and your Void points to your Void ring.
During this event, opportunities may only be used for fluff, for the extra options offered in some rolls, and in the following ways:
+: Remove 1 strife you gained from this check per spent this way.
+: You notice some details unrelated to the task at hand but quite relevant to the big picture. Gain 1 Information point per spent this way.
School abilities, techniques, advantages and disadvantages, only apply if listed here or explicitly stated to apply in this very thread. All their normal restrictions (once per scene, etc.) and costs (spend a Void point, etc.) must also be satisfied.
You can only attempt a number of actions up to your Focus. Each action can only be attempted once as a default.
Event-specific rules
This event does take place in a specific timeslot (LM) for mechanical purposes. The actions described there are not as perfectly contained within these boundaries though, and can easily overflow (or not, player's choice) to the EM and EA slots for RP thread purposes.
You may unmask once at any point during this event, at the cost of losing 1 Impression point, to either (choose one) reset your strife to zero, or increase your Focus by 1 until the end of the event (effectively granting you one additional action).
Rewards
For each 3 Information points earned through the event, you gain an additional Information Tidbit. Roll as many d20 as Tidbits earned that way to determine which ones.
Special
For the duration of the event, shugenja characters are allowed to Importune [Core, page 189], and may do so without making more than a symbolic (fluff) sacrifice, as the kami of the mountains support the priests in their respectful endeavors. The TN increase however still applies as a default.
