Left to the care of the monks as a baby, the monastery's abbess has spent most of her life within its walls. She knows every nook and cranny of the place and of the people inhabiting it, but only has so much experience of the outside world.
How involved she is in Sensei Wu's scheme is a mystery to all but the two of them. As a well-disciplined monk and leader, her true thoughts are always hidden behind a smile.

The legend of Sensei Wu is well-known among the brotherhood: He lived the first half of his life as a proud and violent samurai, was once humbled by a mysterious monk armed only with a broom, and has since dedicated his life to understanding, replicating, mastering, and sometimes teaching, the technique of that strange character he never saw again.
Before finally settling down in Circle's End but a few months ago, Sensei Wu spent decades traveling the Empire as an itinerant monk, and met many people he impressed, dumbfounded, befriended, or antagonized. Opinions about him, his skills, his character, vary widely. Even his worst detractors admit he is not all talk. Even his most fervent admirers sometimes concede some of his prowess are likely exaggerated.
Only by confronting the man himself can someone hope to unveil the truth of the matter.

Hiro joined the monastery about one year ago, seemingly out of nowhere.
The youngest recruit Circle's End has had in decades, his spiritual fervor is backed by the energy of youth and he can often be found at the library or the training grounds at the oddest hours, getting a bit of studying or training done.
Sensei Wu made him one of his students the previous month and bōjutsu drills have since been joined his busy routine.

Haruhi knocked on the monastery's door for the first time one season ago, in the middle of an autumnal tempest. Shes has remained since.
Hardworking to the extreme, she has quickly become the handywoman of the place, the kind of person the monks don't know how they did without before. Though, her tendency to skip communal prayers to do things like repaint the barn while there's no risk of rain can be a bit much at times.
A phenomenon even more prevalent since she has become Sensei Wu's pupil and needs to fit the training sessions into her schedule.
